ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"This group of photographs documents the common bond of these various places, and since you can’t photograph a common bond, I have chosen to photograph their buildings as a way to show the state of mind of their inhabitants. Their structures are indicative of the way they want to live, and the way they live is less important than what rules they live by.
The photographs show a certain amount of chaos and lack of refinement, and within the communities there is a lot of variations on why these particular individuals have come together. I want these photographs to show that the commonality they share is that they don’t want to be judged by their life choices. And I want to photograph what was built as a way to document fairly a way of life that may be becoming more important in our society. Perhaps this idea of living as a combination of chaos and purpose is not so far off from our own futures."
