Our final exhibition in the Projects Gallery is with artist Marcy Paini, of Randolph, VT. BigTown is delighted to present this first solo exhibition of her paper cut-out animation stills and videos. A Vermont native, educated at Parsons School of Design, with a MFA in painting from Hunter College, Marcy returned five years ago and has since found new focus and direction with this work. Combining her training in Waldorf early childhood education, and her love of collage and stop-motion animation, she now makes humorous, dark yet beguiling short shorts with vintage images found on the internet. This exhibition showcases a small selection of her charming narratives influenced by silent films, epic westerns and unrequited love stories. Delight in a myriad of vignettes and the remaking of the simple times of a by-gone-era — the good, the bad and the ugly behavior of the empty-head no-good Cowboy Sweetheart.

The artist talk and Q & A Sunday, September 1 at 4pm.
